Making the Most of Everyday: Mindful Living

There is much written about mindfulness, but often there is a lack of clarity about how it can make a difference in your daily professional and personal life.

In these sessions, we will explore various mindfulness techniques that can be incorporated into both professional and personal life settings to improve well being.

Recent challenges brought upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic emphasize the need for the use of these techniques. Our day to day lives has changed dramatically both inside and outside of the office. A mindfulness practice allows us to focus on the present moment as opposed to looking back on the past or to the uncertainty of the future.


Format: 

Two one-hour sessions would be conducted each week online for four consecutive weeks. 

The classes would be non-sequential, so participants could join all or one of the sessions and still experience positive benefits. It would be ideal to offer the sessions on different days and times each week in order to avoid previously scheduled matters. Actual days and times would be determined from poll results that best fit employee schedules. 

Outcome: 

By the end of the hour, people who have never practiced mindfulness were often unaware of how tense they were and are surprised how relaxed they feel. The exercises are presented in a manner that is easily repeated by an individual practitioner. The value of a four-week series (or longer) is that participants can try the techniques on their own and ask questions or take the practice to a deeper level during subsequent sessions. 

Practicing these techniques to improve mental fitness is as important as exercises to maintain physical fitness. Those who feel they do not have the time to do so, are often those most likely to need it. Mindfulness is a useful tool which allows individuals to be calmer through challenging situations, sharper in their focus, more balanced in their lifestyle, and better communicators with family, friends, co-workers, and business acquaintances.
